Having a shed for extra storage is always comes in handy, regardless of whether you live in a neighborhood or in the country. However, there are some things that should never be store in an uninsulated, outdoor shed. Here’s what not to store in your shed:
1 – PAINT
Paint is highly sensitive to temperature changes so keep it in a temperature-controlled area if you want to keep using it.
2 – BATTERIES
Nope. Like paint, batteries will go bad when subjected to temp changes, especially heat.
3 – ELECTRONICS
Not a good idea. Especially because uninsulated sheds are prone to excess moisture which is particularly damaging to electronics.
4 – PROPANE
The hard and fast rule with propane is to never store it in an enclosed space due to fire hazards. Always store propane tanks in an open, shaded area away from structures.
5 – SPARE TIRES
Believe it or not, tires can be damaged by cold and heat. Cold freezes the rubber while heat leads to dry rot. Moisture also shortens the life of a tire.
OBVIOUS NO-NOS
Anything made from fabric, canned goods, bird seed, books, photos, musical instruments and most furniture. Temperature, moisture and rodents will wreak havoc on all these items.
