Maybe you haven’t thought much about what day might be the cheapest day to buy gas. In fact, maybe you didn’t even know there was a cheapest day. But when prices trend upward this thought could become be top of mind and fortunately, there’s an answer. There’s no way around it, we all need fuel for our vehicles. But buying gas on the cheapest day can add up to big savings over time. What day would that be, you ask? Read on to find out the cheapest day to buy gas:

MAKE IT A HABIT

Like most things, habits can either hurt you or help you. Setting aside the best day to buy gas is easier once it becomes a habit. The strategy is simple and saves money. All it takes is a shift in your routine rather than waiting for your fuel level to dictate your purchase.

THE MOST EXPENSIVE DAYS TO BUY GAS

The day to avoid the gas station is the middle of the week with Wednesday being the most expensive day to purchase gas. This midweek surge is no coincidence. The Energy Information Administration releases its weekly petroleum status report on Wednesday mornings. This report heavily influences market volatility and most station owners adjust their prices upward in response.

And if you wait until Thursday or Friday to buy your gas you will surely be paying a premium, especially during busy summer or holiday travel seasons.

OTHER WAYS TO SAVE

Other ways to save include comparing local stations, leveraging grocery rewards, paying with cash, keeping your vehicle maintained and driving the speed limit.

AND THE CHEAPEST DAY IS……

Sunday tends to be the cheapest day to buy gas in almost every state because energy trading markets are closed. So make Sundays or Mondays your days to get your gas and keep more cash in your pocket over the long haul.
